The Man Who Holds the Sun

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (John 1:1-5)
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, while the sun’s light failed; and the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.’ Having said this, he breathed his last. (Luke 23:44-47).
In the beginning was the Word, and the word was Adonai
Voice that calmed the waters and spoke light into the sky
We were with him and did not know him when he came nigh
Maybe next time he’ll let us know before he just drops by
At 9 the purgation of unwelcome strangers, by noon he spoke his last
But when his eyes closed the earth froze, and the sunlight faded fast
He was with us and we did not know him when he first came nigh
But surely this man who holds the sun was the son of the most high
